Why do premium lens implants cost extra?
Premium lenses often cost extra because they offer features beyond a standard lens, such as reducing the need for glasses or correcting astigmatism, and these upgrades are usually not fully covered by insurance or Medicare. The added testing and technology can play a role too. Your surgeon's office can explain the specific costs so you know what to expect.

My eye pressure went up after SLT, is that expected?
A short-lived rise in eye pressure can sometimes happen soon after SLT, and your eye doctor watches for this. Usually it settles, and it can be managed if needed. It's important not to change any of your drops on your own. If you have severe pain, a lot of redness, or a sudden drop in vision, it's best to contact your eye surgeon's office right away.

What is recovery like after MIGS?
Recovery after MIGS is often fairly quick and comfortable compared with larger glaucoma operations. You may have some mild redness, irritation, or blurriness for a short time as the eye heals, and you'll likely use some drops. Your eye surgeon will give you instructions on activities and follow-up visits, so it's best to follow the plan they provide.

What is an eye injection (anti-VEGF) and why do I need it?
An anti-VEGF eye injection delivers medicine into the back of the eye to calm abnormal blood vessels and reduce leaking and swelling in the retina. It is used for conditions like macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, and vein blockages to help protect your sight. Your retina specialist can explain why it was chosen for your specific situation.
Intravitreal Injection (Anti-Vegf)
What is a glaucoma tube shunt or drainage implant?
A tube shunt, also called a drainage implant, is a small device placed in the eye to help fluid drain out and lower the pressure. It usually has a tiny tube connected to a small plate that sits against the eye, under the eyelid where you can't see it. It is often used for harder-to-control glaucoma. Your eye surgeon can explain how it works for you.

Is mild blurriness and light sensitivity normal in the first days after MIGS?
Mild blurriness and some light sensitivity can be common in the first days after MIGS as the eye settles, and they often ease with time. Everyone heals a little differently, so it's worth mentioning to your care team at visits. If symptoms are severe, you have increasing pain, or your vision worsens, it's a good idea to contact the office promptly.
