Can I get treatment just to fix my front teeth?
Some people are interested in limited treatment focused on the front teeth, which can sometimes work for minor concerns, but the bite and surrounding teeth still matter for a stable result. It isn't right for every situation. An exam clarifies what's realistic. Your orthodontist can examine your teeth and advise on whether focused treatment suits your goals.
Treatment Options
Are there options for someone who only has minor crowding?
Minor crowding can sometimes be addressed with shorter or more focused treatment, and options may include limited braces or aligners depending on the situation. An exam helps determine what's realistic and stable. It's not one-size-fits-all. Your orthodontist can examine your teeth and advise on the approach that fits minor crowding and your goals.
Clear Aligners
Can orthodontic treatment help with jaw or bite problems, not just appearance?
Orthodontic treatment is often about more than looks, since aligning teeth and correcting the bite can make chewing and oral care easier and help teeth fit together more comfortably. The benefits depend on each person's situation. Your orthodontist can examine your bite and explain how treatment might help with both function and appearance for you.
Treatment Timeline
My teeth shifted a little after braces, what does that mean?
Some shifting can happen over time, especially if retainer wear has lapsed, since teeth naturally tend to move throughout life. Returning to consistent retainer wear often helps, and getting checked is worthwhile. Your orthodontist can assess how much has changed and advise on whether your current retainer still fits or if any follow-up is needed.
Traditional Braces
Is it normal for my teeth to feel loose during treatment?
A slight loose feeling can be normal during orthodontic treatment, because teeth must loosen a little to move through the bone before settling firmly into their new positions. This is usually expected. Still, it's worth mentioning at your visits. Your orthodontist can check that everything is moving as planned and reassure you about what's normal.
Braces Comfort & Care
Why does my orthodontist keep changing my wires?
Over treatment, orthodontists often progress through different wires, sometimes from more flexible to firmer ones, to move teeth in stages toward their final positions. Each change is part of the plan. Some tenderness can follow a new wire. Your orthodontist can explain why a particular wire was used and what it's accomplishing in your treatment.
